Interview Summary

Shahid Rashid, a former professor at the University of Karachi, begins the interview by examining his early life in India prior to the partition. Next, Rashid's religious and secular educations while growing up are discussed. Then, the interviewee tells why he moved to Pakistan. Rashid's subsequent move to England after completing university in India is detailed. Additionally, Rashid gives his views on the partition at the time it occurred (when he was nine years old). The interviewee's time at Aligarh Muslim University is touched on, as well as the values that the university bestows upon its students. Finally, the lives of Muslims in both India and Pakistan are briefly compared.
