Project: Partition's First Generation Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Wazir Razzaqi, a former professor living in Pakistan, begins the interview by talking of his childhood in Meerut, India. Following this, a comparison between the lives of Muslims in India and Pakistan is given, as well as the levels of corruption in each country. Then, the impact of Bangladesh gaining independence upon Pakistan is examined. Next, the interviewee's childhood is then reconsidered, with an emphasis on the partition. Subsequently, Razzaqi's early adulthood is explored. The city of Meerut and its experience with the partition is also shared. A debate upon the levels of economic development, culture, and reasons for these particular structures in India and Pakistan is then presented. The interview concludes with a brief overview of the vital qualities that a non-corrupt Pakistani politician should possess.Interview Accession
