Interview Summary

Senator Howard Baker, Jr. begins the interview by discussing what kind of an impact and influence Cooper had upon his life and political career. Additionally, Baker talks of Cooper in the Senate, as well as Cooper's role in leading the opposition to the anti-ballistic missile system. Baker explains why he was in favor of the anti-ballistic missile system. Baker compares his position on the Vietnam War to Cooper's stance on the conflict. To conclude the interview, Baker considers Cooper's most significant accomplishments in the Senate and details their shared Southern heritage.
