Interview Summary

Senator J. Strom Thurmond begins the interview by discussing how he first met John Sherman Cooper in Europe during World War II. Thurmond talks of Cooper's independent style of voting. Thurmond then discusses his views on Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his policies. Cooper's influence in the Senate examined. Cooper's popularity with constituents is discussed. To conclude the interview, Thurmond provides some interesting stories of Cooper in the Senate.
