Interview Summary

Mirza, a former professor living in Pakistan, begins the interview by discussing his early life before the partition in India, in an area which is now in present-day Pakistan. Mirza then explains the importance of his Pakistani identity, and the political events that made the foundation of that nation possible, including the student-lead movements at Aligarh Muslim University. Mirza's formative years following the partition are examined, including where he went to university, and a teaching position he obtained at the University of Punjab. Mirza also recalls the assassination of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, in 1948. The interviewee also considers how accurately Jinnah's vision for Pakistan is being realized today. Lastly, Mirza describes the biggest hindrance to achieving Jinnah's goals for the nation.
