Pam Miller Oral History Project

Project Summary

Pamela Adams Gundersen Miller was the first woman to serve on both Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council (1974-77 and 1980-1993) and as mayor (1993-2003) of Lexington, Kentucky. In these interviews, Miller discusses her family background, education, marriage and motherhood, involvement in politics, and involvement in education advocacy. She was a founding member of the Prichard Committee, and served as chair of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education from 2012 to 2015. She was also chair of the Prichard Committee from 2006-2010.
