Interview Summary

Brito was enrolled as a corpsman for education and job training at Great Onyx Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center (GOJCCC) at Mammoth Cave National Park. he joined the Job Corps in 1965 at age 19 and spent about 18 months at the center. While there, he was involved in the education and work programs and all the other center activities. Prior to joining the Job Corps, he had quit school after the sixth grade and worked to help support his mother and family. He worked in the sugar beet fields and other various jobs around Mitchell, Nebraska until he joined the Job Corps. He applied himself while at the center and reports that the program helped change his life for the better. He is unsure the date, but estimates that he left the center in 1966. This interviews is a story about Brito's life before and after GOJCCC
