Interview Summary

Jessie Shephard was born in 1913 and grew up on Ellis' Branch. Her father helped to build Wendover in the 1920s, and she recalls a Christmas party given by Mary Breckinridge for the children in the immediate area. All of Shephard's children were delivered by FNS nurses. She tells of her acquaintance with Mary Breckinridge and a number of the FNS nurse-midwives in the course of describing her life in Leslie County.
