Interview Summary
In this interview, interviewer Susan Schmidt Horning and legendary guitarist Dick Dale discuss his career as a musician and the influence he had on rock and roll music.Dale discusses the musical artists who influenced him and the history of what became known as the 'surf sound.' Dale then elaborates on his collaboration with Leo Fender, founder of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, who developed a specialized amplification unit specifically for Dale's use.
Finally, Dale discusses his personal life, including the birth of his son and his attitude towards drug and alcohol use.
