Interview Summary

At the time of this interview, Meghan Buell is a fifty-three-year-old resident of South Bend, Indiana. One of the proudest moments of Buell's life was when she came out as transgender. In this interview, she discusses her childhood and relationships with her family members. She talks about her lack of exposure to diverse cultures as a child and how this affected her life. She gives her own definitions of diversity and transgender and discusses the importance of exposing people to different cultures. She talks about how she deals with prejudice and transphobia in her own life, and the role of her non-profit organization in educating others about issues transgender individuals face.
