Interview Summary

This interview with Carol Cox, the Eastern Kentucky Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE) coordinator for the Center for Rural Development in Eastern Kentucky begins with a discussion of her background, such as when and where she was born, as well as the home in which she grew up. Cox then moves on to talk about her job with the Center for Rural Development. Cox also
discusses the various grant projects that the Center for Rural Development has created with the help of Eastern Kentucky Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE). She then talks about the volunteers that encourage her to continue PRIDE programs. Cox also talks about the staff with whom she works at the Center for Rural Development. Next, Cox talks about Congressperson Hal Rogers, who supports PRIDE programs. She then talks about various types of community involvement in PRIDE. She also talks about issues facing water quality in Eastern Kentucky, as well as working in conjunction with judges and courts in order to enforce environmental laws and promote programs. Finally, Cox talks about the various volunteer organizations with whom she works, such as the Boy Scouts of America and the Knox County Garden Club.
