He discusses how he started working for the Courier Journal and covering higher education. He talks about his relationship with and recollections of Edward Prichard and Robert Sexton. He talks about his 1983 series "What's Wrong with Kentucky Schools," co-written with Richard Whitt. He reflects on the significance of the Prichard Committee. He talks about his work as a teacher.
