Interview Summary
Huddleston discusses his brief career during and after college as a sports broadcaster for the University of Louisville, broadcasting from Freedom Hall. He discusses various aspects of sports and sports broadcasting, including scandals, coaches, and broadcasting logistics. Huddleston talks about how his experiences in sports broadcasting assisted him in his political career. He then discusses Mitch McConnell, who defeated him for the Kentucky U.S. Senator seat in 1985. Huddleston discusses his voting record in the Kentucky State Senate. He talks about his various reasons for voting certain ways on a variety of bills. He discusses bringing the University of Louisville (UofL) into the state university system. He talks about becoming Senate majority leader in the Kentucky Legislature. Throughout the interview, Huddleston discusses many politicians who he worked with during his career and discusses specific campaigns.
