Interview Summary
Janice Smith discusses growing up in Kentucky and Texas and going to the Lend-A-Hand Center as a kid. She describes what it?s like to live on Stinking Creek and the problems in the community and outlook for the future. Janice describes learning to garden and participating in the Grow Appalachia program through the Lend-A-Hand Center. She discusses things she grows and cooks and how gardening has changed in the community. Janice talks about the Knox County Farmers? Market and how it is beneficial to the community. Janice believes the Lend-A-Hand Center has had a huge impact on her, her family, and the community. She discusses the future of the Center and its legacy and potential. She talks about the Dewitt Community Garden and possible events for the Grow Appalachia Program.Interview Accession
