Interview Summary
William B. Rutherford describes serving with Company L, 28th Infantry Division, being an aide to General Omar Bradley. He describes his impressions of Bradley, being on Dog Island, training, the shock of combat and different attacks and battles during the war, from the aerial attacks on England to the bombing of Saint-Lo and liberation of Paris. Rutherford discusses his role in the assault on Normandy, including fighting through the Hurtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge.Interview Accession
