Interview Summary
Dr. Vinson R. Browne was an African American professor, and chairman of the Department of Political Science at Howard University. In this interview, Browne discusses his childhood and attending Howard University as an undergraduate student and Harvard University for graduate school in the 1930s and 1940s. He talks about his service in the US Army, coming back to Howard as assistant professor in the political science department, working for several federal agencies, and his position as assistant to two presidents of Howard University. Browne also discusses the American Political Science Association and its publication, the American Political Science Review, and criticizes the association for not addressing current problems facing society and the profession.Interview Accession
