Interview Summary
In this interview, Dr. Matthew Holden, Professor Emeritus of politics at the University of Virginia, describes his early life in Chicago and his educational background. He talks about his career and his experiences at the universities where he has worked. In addition, Holden also describes his intellectual influences. These include professors and fellow students at Northwestern University and colleagues in political science. Holden reflects on the changes and predominant trends he has witnessed in the discipline of political science. He describes his own research, publications, and his views regarding various theoretical aspects of political science including urban government, power, public policy, race and government, constitutions, and bureaucracy. Holden also describes his involvement with various institutions, including the American Political Science Association, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the National Political Science Review, of which he was the editor.Interview Accession
