Interview Summary

Clarence Russell Higgins was born in 1923 and grew up in Fayette County, Kentucky. He moved to Ohio Street in the East End neighborhood in 1955. He discusses the various jobs he has worked, as well as his military service from 1943-1946 when he was stationed in Korea and the Philippines. He talks at length about the businesses that were once located in East End, specifically around Deweese Street, and how they were affected by integration. He discusses how the neighborhood has changed over time.
