Interview Summary
Lillian Buntin was born in Lexington, Kentucky and grew up in the East End neighborhood, primarily on Ohio Street. In this interview she discusses her childhood in the neighborhood, including descriptions of the houses, businesses, and social events. She talks about attending schools in the area and talks about her teachers, and the expectations placed on children. She talks about her membership at both Shiloh Baptist Church and First African Baptist Church at different periods of her life. She talks about becoming a teacher and describes her experiences working at both Constitution Elementary School and Northern Elementary School. She discusses how the East End neighborhood has changed since her childhood.Interview Accession
