Interview Summary
Mr. Palmore begins this interview giving his personal background information and recalling how he first became involved in Kentucky state politics. He explains why Governor Wetherby chose him as Commonwealth Attorney and how he became acquainted with Clements and Wetherby. He mentions several individuals that were around Wetherby when he was governor, and tells of the relationship between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of Kentucky's state government during the 1950's and compares it to the relationship of the 1980's. He tells of Wetherby's stance of various controversial issues and of the coal industry's support for Bert Combs as subsequent governor, and ends speaking about Wetherby's stance on Capital Punishment and of what influenced Wetherby's decisions as Governor.Interview Accession
