Interview with Mary Piasecki, March 7, 2013

Project: Staring Out To Sea: Hurricane Sandy Oral History Project

Interview Summary

Interview with Mary Piasecki by Alicia Hill on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Kean University Library in Union, New Jersey. Mary is a full time student and also holds a job as a cashier at Aldi Foods. She is twenty years old and has lived in her house in New Jersey her entire life.

Mary and her family were prepared for Hurricane Sandy but had no idea what to expect. Their house had six feet of water in it after the storm. Their house sits on higher ground than most in the area so they mainly suffered basement flooding. They had to get rid of many of their belongings that were in the basement. Her community as a whole pulled together pretty well.
