Interview with Martha Fields "Marty" Galloway, February 20, 2021
Project: Gig Economy Workers in the Arts During the COVID-19 Era Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Songwriter, singer, and musician Marty Galloway discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic affected her life and career as a resident of Bordeaux, France. Galloway turned to full-time music over a decade prior when she left her position as a college professor and relocated to France where she's been an extremely successful artist. She talks in detail about how the French people, and the French government, support the arts and artists before and during the pandemic, how she and her band have persevered during the multiple lockdowns, and what the future of music, and live music in particular, might look like when the world is back to normal contact.Interview Accession
