Gig Economy Workers in the Arts During the COVID-19 Era Oral History Project
Project Summary
This is a series of interviews that explore the effects of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic lockdown on workers whose primary income is earned through a gig economy in the arts. As the arts and entertainment industries shuttered doors during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, creatives and support systems dependent on live performance were left struggling to make ends meet. This longitudinal oral history project documents gig economy creatives amid phases of the pandemic. Interviewees include musicians, actors, club, touring, and theater backline laborers, audio and lighting engineers, artists, directors, producers, arts instructors, as well as those related to arts or production retail outlets, exhibition galleries, entertainment venues, nightclubs, and theaters.Project Code
