Interview Summary

George Conner, a former TVA employee in the Navigation Branch, details how he was hired at TVA. Subsequently, Conner describes how he monitored the conditions for navigating the Tennessee River. Conner also talks of major projects he completed while working in the Navigation Branch, as well as the specifications of vessels using the Tennessee River in the 1980s. Additionally, the interviewee's work related to lock construction and railroad and highway bridges is explored. Conner lists some of his favorite memories of being a TVA employee. Conner's co-workers at the Navigation Branch are described. Conner considers some of the major issues he had to deal with along the river. To conclude the interview, Conner reveals how his work was recognized outside of TVA.
