Interview with Dicky Lyons, Jr., October 27, 2023

Project: University of Kentucky Athletics: Football Oral History Project

Interview Summary

Second generation UK Football player, Lyons, Jr. played a leadership role in the offense as a wide receiver and kick returner. He was the first player in UK history to catch two touchdown passes in three consecutive games, a mark set in 2006 that was tied later that year by Keenan Burton. His father, Dicky Lyons Sr., had his jersey retired as one of the greatest players in Kentucky football history. The father and son pair are believed to be the only father-son combination in NCAA history that have each caught a touchdown pass of 80 or more yards.
