Interview with Martha Bassett, May 25, 2017
Project: Sara Holroyd Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Martha Bassett is one of many School of Music alumni who were heavily impacted by Sara Holroyd. In her interview, she discusses her strong musical background, growing up with both parents being fairly involved in music. She also reflects on her time as a student in the School of Music at UK, where she performed in the Shaker worship services, Madrigal Choir, Chorale, and the Sophisticates. Holroyd and Jenness's teachings were carried over into Bassett's professional career. She now performs in a musical group that incorporates secular music into worship services to create music that heals.Interview Accession
