Interview Summary
Wayne Broughton discusses farming on Stinking Creek in Knox County, Kentucky. His wife Ruby occasionally adds input to the conversation. Wayne tells about his dad who farmed after being paralyzed in a mining accident. He talks about farming tobacco and the tobacco buyout and baling hay. He recounts working for American Plastics as a strip miner for 8 years from 1974 to 1982 before the company went out of business. The couple discuss childhood experiences with the Lend-A-Hand Center. An unexpected visitor arrives in the middle of the interview looking for family land. The group then discusses land and common acquaintances and gardening.Interview Accession
