Interview Summary
Sharon Walsh describes her early years as a drug researcher in Baltimore studying heroin. She recalls becoming curious about the pharmacology of prescription painkillers as widespread opioid abuse began to take hold. She also discusses the evolution of her deciding to become an advocate for reform of the legal system and best treatment practices. She also discusses current and potential future treatments for opioid abuse disorders. Sharon Walsh is the Director of the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research at the University of Kentucky.Interview Accession
