Interview Summary
Huey Perry was the director of the Mingo County Economic Opportunity Commission project created during the War on Poverty in the 1960s. In this interview Perry discusses the political corruption occuring in Mingo County, West Virginia during the 1960s and the efforts of community action groups to reform election practices. He talks about the group's work purging voter rolls and the arrests that occurred due to these actions. He discusses the conflict between poverty programs and local politicians.Interview Accession
