Interview Summary

Pierre Ngog was born in 1963 in Sodibanga, Cameroon where his father farmed and he began primary school. He completed secondary school in Yaounde, the capital, and studied economics for two years at the University of Yaounde I, Ngoa Ekele campus, before receiving a UNESCO scholarship to study printing in East Germany. After receiving a diploma in engineering and Master of Arts degree he returned briefly to Cameroon and then went back to Germany where he was employed by German and French companies in the stock market. He later applied for a diversity lottery visa and came to Kentucky in 2008. In Lexington he has worked in several processing and packing jobs, received an Associate degree in accounting and finance, begun his own business, and does substitute teaching. He had a stroke in 2014 and is still recovering.
