Interview Summary

William McMurry discusses his early life, explaining how his father has always inspired him to fight for justice through his work as a lawyer, and how he himself took up skydiving while an undergraduate at the University of Kentucky. He traces his early career as a lawyer beginning in 1979 in his hometown of Paducah, Kentucky, and later in Florida, and Louisville, Kentucky working on both criminal and civil cases. He discusses his work with Morris Dees and the Southern Poverty Law Center in a lawsuit against the Imperial Klans of America from 2006 to 2008, as well as his representing the victims of child sexual abuse in lawsuits against the Archdiocese of Louisville, his work in a lawsuit against the Vatican, and his representing women who had been victims of child sexual abuse at the St. Thomas and St. Vincent Orphanage in Anchorage, Kentucky.
