Interview Summary

DeFilippis describes his business in Long Beach Island. He also talks about buying his first home. DeFilippis talks about business owners of Long Beach Island coming together and growing as a community. He also believes the economy is making it's way back. DeFilippis talks about how hard business is the first three months of the year. He also talks about a new project of building a bridge into Long Beach Island. DeFilippis talks about always being able to work restaurant jobs during the busy seasons. He also talks about his involvement in the Chamber of Commerce. DeFilippis talks about the busy season of Long Beach Island. He also mentions creating special events and festivals to draw customers to the island for business. DeFilippis describes how Long Beach Island is now working together more. Also, he discusses running his business for charity for a while after the storm. DeFilippis describes how his business dealt with the immediate aftermath of the storm. He also talks about how they gave back in so many different ways, ultimately deciding to give more for the affected children as time went along. DeFilippis talks about how he handled Sandy and how he feels bad for those who haven't had the best luck after Sandy. DeFilippis describes how great he feels the municipalities did during the time of need. He also talks about how he thinks the organization of the money was done poorly.
