Interview Summary

Johnny Baker was a child at the time his older brother left for World War One. After completing the eighth grade, Baker began hauling staves and later worked in the mines. He discusses life and work in the mountains, and also comments upon the services his family received from "an old Indian herb doctor." Baker recalls little, if any, direct contact with the FNS.
