History of Higher Education: Black Administrators in Higher Education Oral History Project

Project Summary

In this collection of interviews, interviewees discuss the dynamics of their careers as black administrators in the context of a university setting, the many responsibilities associated with their positions, the challenges of interfacing with a majority university power structure, and particularly, the challenges of promoting diversity and minority student, faculty, and staff recruitment and retention. Both interviewees also identify changes that have occurred in US and Kentucky university diversity policy in the decades since the Civil Rights Movement.
