Project Summary

This series includes eight interviews or recordings concerning the War of 1812, the Civil War, and World War II. The World War II interview features a brief discussion of the use of the atomic bomb against Japan. An interview with President Andrew Johnson's great granddaughter, Margaret Patterson Bartlett, covers the life, family, and career of Andrew Johnson. Some recordings feature classical and popular music of the Civil War era.
