served as a waist gunner on the B-17 bomber-- served with the 95th Bombardment Group-- 336th Bombardment Squadron-- took basic training in Mississippi-- gunnery training at Las Vegas Air Base-- sent to England (Summer 1944)-- flew 35 missions-- describes several bomber missions - first mission over France - experience with flak attack-- shuttle run (England to Russia to Italy to England) - dropped supplies to Warsaw freedom fighters-- Berlin mission-- Munich mission; describes shooting down enemy aircraft-- emergency landings-- battle fatigue-- relationship between British and American soldiers-- leave time in London-- good descriptions of airmen's preparations for missions.
