Interview Summary
Tom Fitzgerald discusses timber cutting in National Forest Service, cutting in wild river's corridors in Daniel Boone National Forest, KRC monitoring of Forest service, and the protection of McCannon Falls. He talks about the Little v. Clark case (1984) regarding surface mining permits, legal challenges of state non-enforcement of surface mining regulations, and challenges of non-enforcement of water quality ACT (1982). He discusses the need for the new water quality standards, the state suit against Bonanza Oil Co. for polluting Ross Creek, and the oil and gas lawsuit at Johnson County to exempt stripper oil wells. He talks about KRC's position on business responsibility and big resource corporations vs. small independent operators. He talks about the Kentucky Government Accountability Project, the future of coal mining in next 15 years, and gives advice to new conservationists.Interview Accession
