Interview Summary

Charles Honeycutt was a longtime educator and mayor of Glasgow, Kentucky. In this interview, Honeycutt describes his youth and his service in the U.S. Army during World War II. He talks about his membership in various Army bands. He also describes his college years and his career as a music teacher and marching band director, first in Harlan County and later, in Glasgow. He explains how he became involved in local government and discusses some issues that have impacted the community over the years including integration of schools and the decline of Glasgow's downtown.
