Interview Summary

Arcury talks about his childhood and his family.
Arcury notes his decision to choose Duquesne University over the University of Scranton. He describes studying sociology and his experience as an undergraduate.
Arcury talks about his time at the University of Kentucky in anthropology. Arcury talks about his transition towards migrant worker research while in Kentucky. He notes that his agriculture work for his dissertation connected him with agricultural workers' household compositions. Arcury notes his decision to move to North Carolina to focus on rural health work. He notes the beginning of his relationship with farm worker advocacy groups, such as the North Carolina Farm Worker Health Alliance.
Arcury offers advice to graduate students on how best to write proposals in the hopes of getting funded. Arcury describes his own feelings becoming more intense as he has become more personally involved in being an advocate and an activist.
