Interview Summary

Jefferson talks about the roles he served as a member of the Urban League of Lexington-Fayette County. He talks about the ways the Urban League has been able to help the community, especially with providing education and training for African American professional workers. He situates the Urban League within the context of other organizations such as the NAACP and CORE as well as in the context of integration, the Great Society, and the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. Finally, he talks about the future of the Urban League and the ways it can make up for some of its shortcomings.
