Interview Summary

Lois Combs-Weinberg (Member, Kentucky Council for Postsecondary Education, 1997-2004) is an education advocate and was vice chair of the Kentucky Council for Postsecondary Education (CPE) from 1997 to 2001 and a Council member until 2004. In this interview, Weinberg, an Eastern Kentucky native, speaks about educational resources and economic development efforts in her community of Hindman, Kentucky. She talks about the James Still Learning Center and the Dyslexia Program she co-founded, that is housed at the Hindman Settlement School. Weinberg discusses Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) President Michael McCall and explains why she supported the Kentucky Postsecondary Education Improvement Act. Her interest in education, its importance, and her father's, Governor Bert T. Combs, commitment to education are also discussed.
