Interview Summary

Mike Auldridge talks about his family's interest in music, and how he was introduced to country and bluegrass music through his friends. He talks about how he became interested in the dobro, and describes his struggles to find one to play. He talks about playing at many parties, the members of the band, and how the band changed when they began playing with John Duffey. He talks about his first commercial recording. He describes touring with Emerson and Waldren. He talks about how they chose a name for their band. Auldridge talks about who wrote most of the music for The Seldom Scene. He talks about the role of the dobro in the band, how they came up with their song arrangements, and talks about how their mixing process worked. Auldridge talks about doing session work for artists like Emmy Lou Harris, Linda Rondstat, and Dolly Parton.
