Interview Summary
Finney begins the interview by talking about author Ernest Gaines, and his plans following his retirement from writing. The sense of priorities that Gaines has obtained are then compared with those of the average person. Subsequently, Finney discusses the origins of her strong sense of nature. Then, the interviewee relays her experience with food on her grandparents' farm, as well as general observations of how people treat their elderly relatives. Next, Finney recalls her grandmother's family, and Finney's own personal quest to become more attuned with her African American heritage. Additionally, Finney examines her past and present religious beliefs, and how students interact with nature over time. Finney's grandparents' farm is then detailed. Lastly, the interviewee explores how her writing and identity conforms and changes according to where she resides at that particular moment in time.Interview Accession
