Interview Summary
Rupp starts the interview with a history of the presidency of the University of Kentucky. He describes the various presidents that he has interacted with during his time as head coach of the University of Kentucky basketball team, including Frank L. McVey, Herman L. Donovan, Frank G. Dickey, and John W. Oswald. Rupp discusses the policies and changes of each of these presidents, including Donovan's initiative to start the University of Kentucky Athletics Association to fund the athletics programs, the integration of the Southeastern Conference's athletic teams under Dickey, and Dickey's push to raise the academic expectations of student athletes. Rupp ends the interview with a discussion of the coaching problems that occurred towards the end of Dickey's presidency.Interview Accession
