Interview Summary
In this interview, William Goutley, who served with the 303rd Combat Engineer Battalion, 78th Infantry Division, describes the Normandy Invasion force. He talks about taking the wounded off ships, landing at Normandy on D+5, wading to shore, hitting the beach, and digging in. Goutley talks about the Battle of the Bulge, and mentions Liege. He describes crossing the Remagen Bridge and describes a tour through Buchenwald prisoner of war camp. In addition, Goutley provides his reactions to the end of the war and his homecoming.Interview Accession
