Interview Summary

Goodpaster begins the interview by discussing his childhood and the origins of his affinity for horses. Then, Goodpaster details the beginning of his career in the horse industry. Next, the interviewee outlines his typical horse care routine, as well as his process for breaking yearling horses. Goodpaster recalls his time spent as a horse trainer and breeder at Keeneland race track in Lexington. Goodpaster also talks of his horse Papa Redbird, as well as a friend from the horse racing world. The interviewee then highlights his experience with breeding one of the first white thoroughbreds. Additionally, Goodpaster describes his favorite horse, as well as the qualities that he looks for in thoroughbreds. To conclude the interview, Goodpaster considers what needs to be done in order to maintain a high level of horse racing in Kentucky, and discusses the buyer of his white horses.
