Interview Summary
Cooper begins the interview by talking of his working relationship with Keen Johnson (former Kentucky governor). Cooper recalls the anti-Catholic movement in the 1960 elections. The interviewee discusses Louie B. Nunn in the role of his campaign manager. Cooper discusses a quote misattributed to him by journalist Richard Harwood. Cooper details his views on Joseph McCarthy. Additionally, tobacco is discussed as one of the main issues in his debate with Keen Johnson in campaigning for the Senate in 1960. Cooper outlines his personal and political relationship with the Kennedy family.
