Interview Summary
Malvery Begley describes her family history in Leslie County, Kentucky. She describes growing up on her family's farm, including the crops and animals they raised, how they preserved their food, the cutting of trees, and how neighbors would help one another with their farming. She describes her school experience, feuds in the area, and hunting habits of the local people. She talks about how her family and the community were affected by the Great Depression and World War II. She talks about how the forest is currently being affected by clear-cutting and beetles that are killing the trees.Interview Accession
