Interview Summary
In this interview, John R. Crockett reminisces about Adolph Rupp and the University of Kentucky basketball program. He recalls that both "gave the state an identity" and stated "he would rather have sat on Coach Rupp's bench than play varsity ball for any other school in this country". Crockett talks briefly about the minor controversy and unrest on campus during the Vietnam War and how things settled down after the war ended. He evaluates Dr. Otis A. Singletary's tenure at U.K. and states "he was a near-perfect university president". Crockett served on the Past Presidents Advisory Council and as President of the U.K. Alumni Association in 1972.Interview Accession
