Interview Summary
Foster Ockerman, son of a minister, was born in Nelson County, Kentucky. Ockerman attended Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee and the University of Kentucky, graduating from law school in 1947. He served four years in the United States Navy (1942-1946) and has served the stae of Kentucky and the city of Lexington in many public service positions. Ockerman discusses the merging of Lexington and Fayette County (LFUCG) as well as how developers went about developing the first suburbs such as Lansdowne. He also discusses the Kentucky State Legislature, and managing Democratic gubernatorial campaigns. In addition, Ockerman discusses the sanitation systems of new developments.Interview Accession
